Dry Farming

Recently on National Public Radio there was a news story on dry farmed apples that tasted much better than the irrigated crops. Yield was slightly less, but rave reviews on the new and improved product drove up unit sales values and the farmers did not have to spend money on water and irrigation power.

We need to reconsider english gardens, large lawns and green golf courses in the middle of deserts. Perhaps as the world gets drier, we will begin to accept responsibility.

Our household has been saving the tub/shower water and it is going on our plants outside. We are better than 25% less consumption and my arms are getting a free workout hauling the 5-gallon pails around the yard.
